About the Programme
The Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture are a €30 million, EU-funded initiative promoting cultural exchange and co-creation between cultural practitioners across Sub-Saharan African countries and the European Union. Managed by Goethe-Institut Johannesburg, the programme operates across different work packages, e.g. mobility, structural funds, co-creation, skills development and networking.

Scope of Assignment
The Graphic Designer produces all visual assets for the Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture, including social media graphics, Calls for Proposals and programme collateral, event materials, in accordance with the programme’s visibility guide. The Graphic Designer works closely with the communications team and Project Team Manager to ensure visual consistency, accessibility, and alignment with both programme identity and EU’s visibility requirements.

Profile
Essential:

  • Demonstrated professional portfolio in graphic design or visual communication
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva
  • Experience in producing multilingual and multi-format digital and print assets
  • Familiarity with EU visibility requirements for externally funded projects or willingness to learn
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to manage multiple concurrent briefs under deadline
  • English fluency; French and/or Portuguese an advantage
  • South African residence or a valid work permit

Desirable:

  • Experience in cultural sector communications or arts marketing
  • Knowledge of Sub-Saharan African visual cultures and design contexts
  • Basic CMS experience for website asset uploads and updates
