The Goethe-Institut e. V. is the globally active cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany. We promote knowledge of the German language outside Germany and foster international cultural cooperation. In addition, we convey a comprehensive image of Germany by providing information on cultural, social and political life. The Goethe-Institut Johannesburg is the Regional Office responsible for the coordination of the work of 15 Goethe-Institutes in Subsaharan Africa.

As part of our work in the Information Department of the Goethe-Institut Johannesburg, we are looking for an

Innovation Coordinator

Your area of responsibility essentially includes:
  • Market overview and testing of already established and new digital exchange platforms (immersive 3D worlds, virtual reality, hologram and new upcoming technologies)
  • Advisory service for the 15 Goethe-Institutes in the Subsaharan African region on digital formats, digital platforms, online moderation and hybrid events
  • Setup of a data base for experiences with online moderation and exchange platforms
  • Experimenting with and advisory service on technical setups for hybrid events
  • Setup of a data base for best practice of digital event and training formats
  • Evaluation of access figures, compilation of statistics and reports
  • Consultation in relationship with gaming projects, gamification processes and the execution of digital events
  • Assisting with budget planning and accounting for payments
 

Your profile:

  • Studies or training in coding, gamification, game design, event technology or comparable sectors
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, knowledge of French and German an advantage
  • Good writing style
  • Knowledge of the technical, cultural and media landscape
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently, flexibly and as part of a team
  • Reliability and accuracy
  • Very good communication skills
  • Work permit for South Africa


The scope of employment is 50% (20hrs/week) and remuneration is according to the valid remuneration scheme for local staff of the Goethe-Institut Johannesburg.
