While on tour in Cameroon, Madagascar, South Africa, the DRC and Angola, German quartet Jin Jim will be jamming and performing at the Afrikan Freedom Station in Westdene, Johannesburg. Jin Jim’s music is an eclectic blend of styles and influences, including hip hop beats, South American motifs, and Balkan grooves. All four members of the quartet are from the Cologne scene. They are Daniel Manrique-Smith (flute), Johann May (guitar), Bentai Trawinski (acoustic bass) and Nico Stallmann (percussion).
The event will include a jam session in the afternoon, during which local musicians are invited to exchange musical ideas with the visitors. In the evening, there will be a double bill performance by Jin Jim and local favourites the Malcolm Jiyane Trio.
