Lecture: 18H30

Writer, Critic, Storyteller Extraordinaire, Music Conductor, Social-Scientist and overall one of the most respected cultural philosophers in and around the world, Greg Tate has written cover stories for the likes of Down Beat, Jazz Times, The New York Times, Vibe, Village Voice, The Glendora Review and Chimurenga.

He's gone on to write books and monographs on Jimi Hendrix, Jean-Michel Basquiat as well as a work-in-progress on the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. For two decades, Tate worked as a senior writer and critic at the Village Voice where his boldness in speaking "Truth To Authority" with a funk and jazz ca"danced" ryhthm created a language all on his own. His work ranges from cultural criticism, political and social analysis, futurism and speculative magic and the political economy of cultural ownership.

Presented by Gallery Momo & Bongani Madondo's Giant Steps.
