Wikipedia is the biggest online encyclopedia and the 5th biggest website in the world, yet its content is contributed by a very few people, who are mainly males, mostly in the tech industry based in U.S and European countries. This makes Wikipedia to have more content about U.S and Europe which is also masculine in nature.
The Wikimedia Foundation along with the Goethe-Institut are committed to changing this by supporting a number of free knowledge initiatives, but they cannot do it alone. It is people like you, who enables Wikipedia to be a continued relied upon source of information by sharing your stories. The problem is, most people don't know where to start or how they can take part, some have an idea for a project that can increase African content, but don't know how they can secure funding.
Join us for a 2 days Wikimedia capacity building workshop where we will be hosting Asaf Bartov, from the Wikimedia Foundation (U.S.) to address all of these issues.
