Join us for a day full of fun and activities at our institute in Parkwood!
All our departments come together to showcase the variety in programmes we do as the Goethe-Institut South Africa:
From German Speak Dating to storytelling in our Library-Gamebox-Hub, from art workshops to music performances, from library rallies to cosplay - there will be something for the whole family! 

And besides the great German-inspired food, anyone interested in German language courses will get a discount of 20% for signing up for our classes on that day. There’s also the chance to a win a free German course by participating in our cosplay challenge!

PROGRAM

Multilingualism Challenge
 
Test and expand your ability to deal with different languages in a series of playful challenges.

Place: Auditorium
Time: 1 pm - 5 pm

Live Marimba Concert with AchiKids + Clay Animals with Francois
 
While the AchiKids are giving us one of their great performances, our very own Francois teaches the kids how to craft animal figurines from clay.

Book Nest Launch
 
This is the unveiling of our hand crafted Book Nests: A free and open take-a-book, leave-a-book system.

Library Rallye

A fun and interactive way to learn about our library space and its features.

Gamebox

Our Gamebox and its expansive choice of analog and digital games are available throughout the day.

Cosplay in Photo Booth with costumes

Story Telling

Actor Thando Bezana is telling exciting stories in an enthralling way.

German Reading: Fairy Tale
 
The Head of Library and Information Services Stefanie Kastner will give us a taste of her oratory skills and reads out some of the lesser known Grimm’s Fairy Tales in German.

German Flirt Course

Ever wondered how to break the ice or woo someone in German? This crash course will teach you the right things to say – the right times to say them are not included though!

Speak Dating: German – Zulu – Afrikaans
 
Get to know some of the basics of three languages in only 30 minutes! Sounds impossible? Not when some native speakers are there to show you the ropes.

Moilemo Moiloa Walkabout
 
You’ll get a little extra out of the featured artwork, when you take part in this guided tour of our gallery section done by the main curator Moilemo Moiloa herself.
