ArtsAbility Dance Residency is South Africa’s premier Integrated dance training programme for people with disability wanting to pursue dance as a profession. 4 young people living with a disability (Physical/unseen, disabilities, visually and hearing impaired etc.) between the ages of 18 and 35 will be integrated together with 2 trained dance graduates (without disability) in an inclusive training, conducted by 2 teachers, choreographers and pioneers (Andile Vellem and Nadine Mckenzie) of inclusive arts from Unmute Dance Company.
The residency seeks not to isolate people with disabilities from the society, but an initiative that will integrate and celebrate the diversity of people’s abilities/ disabilities through artist collaborative works that will break barriers and make awareness of inclusion of people living with disability within the society.
