Virtual Commemoration of the 1938 November Pogroms

In remembrance of the 1938 November Pogroms, the Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre and the Goethe-Institut Johannesburg, in partnership with the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Southern Africa, the Cape Town Holocaust & Genocide Centre and the Durban Holocaust & Genocide Centre, present a virtual commemoration event and lecture.

The programme includes a message from the German Ambassador, a candle lighting ceremony and a keynote address by the renowned German historian Professor Wolf Gruner. The title of Professor Gruner’s address will be “The forgotten mass destruction of Jewish homes during Kristallnacht 1938”.

The meeting will be conducted on Zoom, and registration prior to the event is essential. There will be an opportunity to address questions to Professor Gruner via the messaging function on Zoom.
