We are still here! After so many months of being closed to the public, we invite you to join us for our open week: from German speak-dating and our Feminism Ya Mang exhibition to a performance around plastic and the environment, we have put together a week of exciting activities. All events are covid-complaint and require previous registration.

1) Learn German with our “Speak-Dating”:

Have you ever done Speed-Dating? Now, it’s time for Speak-Dating! Join this fun game to polish your German language skills: you will sit together with a Mother Tongue Speaker and you get a few seconds to learn plenty of phrases in German. Ideal for Beginners! To round up the experience, we invite you to a lunch at our cafeteria. To register, email Amanda.deBeer@goethe.de (max. of 20 participants each slot).

Date: Monday, 17 May 2021, either 10 to 12 or 13:30 to 15:30
Location: Atrium of the Goethe-Institute

2) Feminism Ya Mang – Exhibition:

Do you miss an exhibition you can actually walk through? Join our Preview and experience a special guided walkabout of our Feminism Ya Mang-Exhibition. Works of Jodie Bieber, Amy Ayanda, Teresa Firmino, Helen Uambembe, Kelly Johnson, Lulama “Wolf” Mlambo, Saaiq’a Ebrahim, Thato Ramaisa and Jabu Newman are shown. To register, email Samantha.Modisenyane@goethe.de (max. 5 guests per time slot).

Date: Tuesday, 18 May 2021, three time slots 12 to 13, 15 to 16 and 16:30 to 17:30.
Location: Gallery of the Goethe-Institute

3) Live-Performance of “PlaSticity VR360”:

Thabiso Heccius Pule is a dancer and former participant of the HUB@Goethe. He invites you to an interactive dialogue that explores the complex challenges which affect the environment. Join us for Pule’s performance and a buffet served before the play. PLEASE NOTE: Capacity for this event has been reached and it is no longer possible to register.

Date: Wednesday, 19 May 2021, 15:00 to 17:00 (buffet will be served first)
Location: Atrium of the Goethe-Institute

4) Face the “Multi-Lingualism-Challenge”:

We are honored to invite the German learners from our partner-school, the Hoërskool Linden, to challenge their language skills. With this interactive language game, they are going to find out how much they know in several languages spoken around the world. Let the games begin! To register, email Matthias.Witte@goethe.de (closed event).

Date: Thursday, 20 May 2021, 9 to 13:30 (including lunch)
Location: Auditorium of the Goethe-Institute
