ISEA Steven Hobbs

Sat, 30.06.2018

The 2018 edition of the International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA2018) will be presented in partnership with Durban University of Technology’s Digifest and Innovate Durban’s Innovation Festival. ISEA2018 will bring together scholarly, artistic, and scientific domains in an interdisciplinary discussion and showcase of creative productions applying new technologies in art, interactivity, and electronic and digital media.

In support of the ISEA programme, the Goethe-Institut will support the Urban Media Art Academy (UMAA), which will be presented during ISEA2018. UMAA is a platform for experience and participation, during which Berlin-based Public Art Lab members Susa Pop and Tanya Toft Ag will explore, together with local culture producers, artists and curators, the question of what urban media art can do for Durban. On 30 June, the results of UMAA will be showcased during a public event in the Durban inner city.

As part of the Moving Africa programme, eight digital artists from across the African continent have been invited to ISEA. Moving Africa is the Goethe-Institut's pan African exchange Programme which gives artists the opportunity to travel to selected cultural festivals on the continent.
