Last year I spent Christmas in Germany for the first time - with my au pair family. In Ukraine we celebrate Christmas differently; so many things were new to me. I had a lot to learn about Christmas in Germany - and I really enjoyed it. I continue to live in Germany because I' m studying here, have found work and lots of friends. I also have a dog: Kasha. In Ukraine, porridge is called kasha, and after mum and dad it is one of the first and most important words children learn there.
So after mum and dad, Kasha – she’s with me at every turn and helps me with my Christmas preparations. Christmas is the feast of love and reflection – I’d like to show you what this means to me. Because reflection also means being attentive to oneself and one's environment. I know my way around Germany a little better this year and am looking forward to celebrating my green Christmas together with you.
