In the video series, Longing #11 aka Instructions for Longing, chi too balances a spirit level on his head. Even though it looks simple, such an act requires practice and concentration. The act is like a kind of meditation which chi too describes as ‘consciousness of one’s own head’.

The videos were filmed in three historical locations in Singapore: Fort Canning, Serangoon Road, Orchard Road, The Padang, Seletar Airport, Tiong Bahru and Pulau Ubin. Chi too’s performance stood in contrast to the busy urban environment around him which occasionally caught the interest of passersby.

 

About the Artist

chi too creates work based around humor, satire and visual poetry. His works cover various issues regarding the arts and everyday life in Malaysia. He often plays with various ambiguous forms or sayings, which blur the boundaries between the personal and social, between the high arts with that of popular culture. chi too is also known as a musician and has collaborated with the Wonderboys, Dill Malik and Mun Kao.
