Everybody wants to live well, to be healthy and able to move freely, and to have access to high-quality education. Making this possible requires functioning infrastructures. The Global South in particular needs more industry, new technologies, and urban development to include necessities like roads, bridges, airports, nursery and secondary schools, universities, shops, and hospitals. Lines for electricity, water, gas, telephones, and Internet connections are also part of a good infrastructure. All these services and facilities are available in today’s industrialised nations. However, many of these developments have had a negative impact on the environment. That is something we have to learn from. How can we improve the lives of all people and protect the environment at the same time?
