For this podcast, we interviewed Celestino Palafox Cepeda of the Ikoots Indigenous People, who originally come from the community of San Mateo del Mar. This is the only community that has completely rejected the construction of a wind energy project in its territory. Celestino is a member of the Assembly of Peoples in Resistance of the Isthmus. We also interviewed Josefa Sanchez, a member of the Zoque indigenous people. She is a researcher, activist and member of the Matza collective, which defends the forests of Chimalapa against mining. She is also co-author of the book "Colonialismo energético: territorios de sacrificio para la transición energética en España, México, Noruega y el Sahara Occidental".
We spoke with them about how this new model of energy transition is affecting the territories and indigenous peoples of the isthmus.
