Open Studios with Mark Cinkevich
The first public event of the DATAS project is the open studios of MeetFactory’s resident artists!
Among others, the Belarusian artist and researcher Marek Cinkevichwill present his work. During his residency, he explores how authoritarian regimes – specifically the Belarusian one – use algorithms, technologies, and data to control society.
His project focuses on “non-combat imagery”– ways in which power operates without direct violence, using surveillance systems, internet shutdowns, or state databases. Cinkevich combines art and research to reveal the hidden mechanisms of digital surveillance and emerging forms of power.
He sees Belarus as a laboratory of authoritarian technologies– ones that could become a reality elsewhere in Europe as well.
Come get a glimpse into his creative process and join the discussion on freedom, surveillance, and digital identity.
