In recent years we have noticed that Goethe-Institut and FOKUS on German reach an increased female audience (80% women), both in Romania and in Germany. At the same time, although there are positive trends in contemporary society, the under-representation of women is still an unresolved issue.
FOKUS TALK MARATHON: FOKUS ON WOMEN
Out of the desire to address this issue, we are dedicating the second edition of the FOKUS Talk Marathon to: women.
During this year's debate marathon entitled FOKUS on Women, we will offer women in Romania and Germany a platform to discuss about their position and role in contemporary society.
In the context of the 30th anniversary of the fall of communism in Europe, we are interested to open a debate about how the role of women in society has changed over the last three decades. In many sectors of public life, women should be represented according to their share of the population, which would mean a percentage of at least 50%.
Career opportunities for women in Romania show that things have taken a positive turn in recent years. However, we can ask ourselves whether the changes that have taken place are sufficient and to what extent they cover the diverse needs of all women.
On October 3, we give the floor to women in a marathon of debates, in which activists, journalists, politicians, academics, cultural managers and artists will present their vision on a series of topics: women's representation in politics and media, labor migration among women, women in leadership positions in the cultural sector, and beyond.
