Maureen Crowley runs a neighborhood café in Berlin-Kreuzberg. For Maureen, originally from Ireland, the step into self-employment has paid off: Since 2010, the "Schnittchen" has been a popular neighborhood meeting place.

Maureen Crowley...

who was born in Ireland, studied to be a teacher in Dublin. She came to West Berlin in 1979 on a trip to Europe and decided to stay. She worked in the restaurant industry, as a language teacher and as a translator, among other jobs. In 2010, she opened the Kiez-Café "Schnittchen" in Berlin-Kreuzberg. She offers vegetarian food, but also sees the place as a neighborhood café for local residents.
