Three Afghan women living in Kabul from different social backgrounds face a major challenge in their lives. Hava, a traditional, pregnant woman with no one to take care of her, lives with her father and mother-in-law. Her only joy is talking to the baby in her womb. Maryam, a trained TV reporter, wants to divorce her unfaithful husband but finds out she is pregnant. 18-year-old Ayesha agrees to marry her cousin because she is pregnant by her boyfriend and he disappears after learning the news. Each of them has to solve their own problem for the first time.

Sahraa Karimi, born in 1985, comes from the second generation of Afghan refugees in Iran. At the age of fifteen, she starred as an actress in two Iranian films, which led her to study film in Slovakia, where she graduated with a PhD in directing. During these years she made more than 30 short feature films and documentaries, some of which won numerous awards at international film festivals. After 10 years of making many short films and documentaries, she returned to Kabul. There she made two documentaries that were internationally successful and were broadcast by ARTE France and BBC. "Hava, Maryam, Ayesha" is her first feature film shot entirely in Kabul with Afghan actors.
