Video chain reaction with Malcolm Ohanwe (journalist, Munich), Lorena Jaume-Palasí (ethics & technology, Berlin), Renata Ávila Pinto (lawyer and activist, Guatemala City), Reem Al-Masri (journalist and net activist, Amman)

In its early years, the internet was thought to be a utopia - a space where people could converse without domination. In fact, algorithms now reproduce and reinforce racist and sexist discrimination. They shape not only the internet, but our entire society - from traffic lights to Instagram feeds.
In a discursive chain reaction on the topic of “decolonising the internet,” Malcolm Ohanwe, Lorena Jaume-Palasí, Reem Al-Masri and Renata Ávila Pinto exchange views on the question of how the internet systematically perpetuates colonial structures and how we can break free of them.
