Fradique (Mário Bastos) is an Angolan filmmaker and founder of the production company Geração 80 in Luanda, Angola. His first full-length documentary, Independence, focuses on Angola's liberation struggle. The film won the Angola's Culture National Prize for Cinema - it was recognized as a remarkable step towards recovering Angola's collective memory. His first feature film Air Conditioner (2020) premiered at International Film Festival Rotterdam and currently he is developing his next film The Kingdom of Casuarinas (2022). Both films deal with hope and dreams in Angola's society, which became shattered memories that were left behind for the sake of individual and collective survival.
