Jacques Do Kokou

Jacques Do Kokou is a photographer and filmmaker. After working in photography since his teenage years, he was trained in directing and editing at the Cinema Technical Section of the Cultural Actions Department of the French Ministry of Cooperation in Paris. He directed one of the first films in Togo with Kouami ou l'exode malversée which won the silver medal at the 1980 Moscow International Film Festival. Jacques Do Kokou also worked as a photographer and director at the Togolese Ministry of Communication, continuing his training through courses and workshops in France, Burkina Faso and Togo. With an experience of 30 years he taught art drawing at the College St. Joseph in Lomé. As a photographer, he has exhibited at the Biennials in Lyon, Tangier, Bamako and Dak'art, as well as in various other African cities. He received the prestigious distinction of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres of France.
