Antje Van Wichelen
Culture of memory, Postcolonial art production, Decolonisation, Reappraisal of the colonial past
In 2019 she was Artist in Residence at the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum in Cologne, where she researched the historical photo archive along with the Wereldculturen.nl, Quai Branly, Africamuseum Tervuren and Pitt Rivers Museum archives. Her work with this material has resulted in collaborative installations exploring the mechanisms of colonial photography and which were exhibited in the museum under the title Noisy Images. This work, embedded in the group TROUBLED ARCHIVES is selected for the Dakar Biënnal 2020.
Van Wichelen is a member of LABO BxL and of the Greyzone Zebra Collective. She lives and works in Brussels.
