Jon Weinberg is the director of Dijondesign. He is a heritage consultant and designer. He is a specialist in African studies, Heritage Studies and Project Management. His work career has spanned 35 years in the arts, design, heritage, exhibition and museum sectors. He established Dijondesign Heritage and Museum Design Consultancy in 2010. He was a co-founder of the renowned Handspring Puppet Company and has held local and international management positions at Iziko Museums of South Africa, Smithsonian Institution, USA, the MTN Science Centre and Kagiso Exhibitions and Events. He has headed numerous projects that have included turnkey project management aspects and included the full cycle of work from conceptualisation to research to production and installation.
He is currently the lead project manager for the design and development of the Lesotho National Museum and Art Gallery which is to be completed in 2021. This new museum is currently under construction in Maseru and is due to launch in early 2021. Dijondesign Heritage Consultancy has been appointed to develop the museum as a turnkey project. The three-storey Lesotho National Museum and Art Gallery will collect and interpret Social History, Natural History and Art. It will also include storage, conservation, research, curatorial and administrative facilities.
