Liminality is the possibility of transformation, ritual unbecoming. The CTM 2020 MusicMaker’s Hacklab, hosted by Peter Kirn of CDM and 2020 co-host Tad Ermitaño, focused on how performance practice and invention can change the performer—making them someone or something else, making them newly visible, or making them entirely invisible.

The 2020 Hacklab Fellows worked steadily during the CTM festival week and came together for this finale event to present new and unplanned collaborative performances that remake one another’s onstage roles. Just-created performance designs, interventions, circuits, dance inversions, code, and ideas were put to the test in front of a live audience as a multidisciplinary group of creative performers share the work they've constructed in relation to the Shapeshifters theme.
