Led by Interspecifics

During the past seven years, Interspecifics have explored the possibilities of artistic creation using tools from the scientific and technological world, with a clear orientation to open-source practices inspired by their Latin American context. Their research focuses on the use of sound and AI to explore patterns emerging from biosignals and the morphology of different living organisms as a potential form of non-human communication.

In this 2-hour session, they will share and discuss different methodologies used during the creative process of our work. They will analyze a selection of pieces, their development process, and the fundamental elements to start in these explorations. They will also dive into the ethical and philosophical implications of working with other living organisms while working together hands-on, with a practical example using Computer Vision to analyze time-lapses from different types of bacteria.
