The building belongs to the Ottoman reign (ca. 400 years old) and it used to be part of the adjacent „Ottoman Court“. It used to be the first Lieutenant’s office and an interigation room. After being abbandond for several years the Palestinian artists and sculpturer Jalal Dabeet used it as a private gallery till the year 2004. Later on it became a café and a place where artists used to gather. Now its La Grotta, a café and bar full of music at the heart of the old city of Ramallah.
