Hanlu Zhang is a writer and curator whose work examines migration – not only as a subject of inquiry, but as a lived experience. In 2020, she founded Social Practice Lab (SPL), a platform that curates socially engaged art and initiates collaborative projects. She previously worked as a curator at Guangdong Times Museum and as an editor at ARTFORUM China.

Her past exhibitions include:
  • Rebel Cities (Yang Arts Museum, Beijing, 2017), which explored spatial politics and urban planning.
  • Bicycle Thieves (Para Site, Hong Kong, 2019), which examined the relationship between technology and labor.
  • He Who Sees Everything, Knows Everything, Is Everything (Up&Coming section, Gallery Weekend Beijing, 2020), which investigated spirituality and alternative forms of knowledge.
  • River Pulses, Border Flows (Guangdong Times Museum, 2022), which showcased artistic practices around four transboundary rivers in Southeast Asia.

She also contributed to the curatorial teams of Cosmopolis #1.5: Enlarged Intelligence (Chengdu, 2018) and Cosmopolis #2: Rethinking the Human (Centre Pompidou, Paris, 2019).
