Toby Walsh is one of the world’s leading scientists in the field of AI. He is Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the University of New South Wales and heads the algorithmic decision theory research group at Data61, Australia’s largest digital research network. His research focus is the goal of developing trustworthy AI governed by the principles of fairness, transparency, accessibility, data privacy and stability. Alongside his scientific activities not only does he regularly meet with influential figures in politics and the media, he also exploits his high profile on social networks in particular to achieve this aim. Toby Walsh was awarded the prestigious Humboldt Prize for his research in 2014, and the “New Statesman” selected his book It’s Alive! Artificial intelligence from the Logic Piano to Killer Robots, which was published in 2017, as Book of the Year.
