Prof. Dr. Hermann Parzinger

Prof. Dr. Hermann Parzinger studied Archaeology and History. He did 30 years of field research in many European countries as well as in the Near East and in Central Asia. Parzinger was Assistant Professor at Munich University, Director and President of the German Archaeological Institute and Honorary Professor at the Free University in Berlin. Since 2008 Parzinger is President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and in this position responsible for the large cultural projects in Berlin. Parzinger received several awards, among them the Leibniz Prize. He holds several Honorary Doctor degrees from abroad, is member of Academies of Sciences in Germany, Spain, Great Britain, Romania, Russia, China and the USA, and was decorated with crosses and medals of merit from Germany, Russia and Italy.
