In 1897, an electric power plant was built on Weimar’s Kirschberg, providing the city’s residents with electricity for the first time in the following year. Since the turn of the millennium, the buildings, including former machine and boiler rooms, serve as an additional venue of the Deutsche Nationaltheater Weimar, hosting theater and musical productions as well as other events such as concerts, readings, and discussions. E-Werk and Lichthaus Kino are the main venues of the Kultursymposium Weimar.
