1973 - 1978   works for German television and the magazine "Stern" 
1979 - 1983   foreign correspondent in Jerusalem; publication of "Mein Jerusalem" 
1984 - 1988   foreign correspondent in Washington; awarded Egon-Erwin-Kisch Prize for a report about the Washington Vietnam Memorial for the magazine "Geo" 
1989 - 1994   presenter of the WDR show "Drei vor Mitternacht" and the Vox news show "Weltvox"
1995 - 1998    editor in chief, cultural section of the radio and television station ORB
2000   press officer of World Expo Hanover
