Eduard Friedrich Mörike (1804-1875) – pastor, author and translator - has always been admired for his greatly varied writing. Many of his folktales have their roots in his native Swabia. His poetry became a household name in Germany and may of his poems have been set to music, notably by Robert Schumann and Hugo Wolf. His only novel “Maler Nolten” was published in 1832.
