Johann Ludwig Tieck (1773 – 1853), a prolific writer and critic published poems, plays and novels. He also translated Cervantes and Shakespeare into German. His transition to Romanticism is manifest in his story-collections including “Der blonde Eckbert” and “Der gestiefelte Kater”.
