A highly successful and enjoyable training day for primary teachers was held at the GI Manchester on 28 November 2009 as part of our strategy of actively encouraging and supporting the introduction of German into the primary school curriculum. 
On 16 November 2009 the 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall was celebrated in the Great Hall of Queens University Belfast. It was organized by the German Society and the DAAD lector. It was not only for Queens University students and members of the German Society, but all Northern Irish Schools contactable by e-Mail had also been invited 
The Goethe-Institut Manchester organized a discussion on this subject on 9th of November 2009 at Manchester Metropolitan University. The Moderator was Prof. Stefan Berger. Mr. Berger is the Professor of German and Comparative European History. He is also the Director of the Jean Monnet Centres of Excellence in Manchester.
