Welcome to the Goethe-Institut in the Philippines

The Goethe-Institut Philippinen is closed from March 30 – April 4 for the Holy Week. The institute will open again on Monday, April 7.

It is with deep regret that we inform our partners and friends of the passing of our former institute director, Wilfried Scheffler. Herr Scheffler passed away on the 23rd of March 2015. Each of us not only grieves for the loss of a former director and colleague but also would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends he has left behind.
Wilfried Scheffler, from Duisburg Germany, studied Germanic Studies, Philosophy and Political Science in Cologne and Freiburg.  He dedicated his whole life to the Goethe-Institut, for which he worked at management positions in different countries starting in India and then on to Jakarta, Singapore and various cities in Germany. He served as Director of the Goethe-Institut Manila from 1998 to 2002.
The Goethe-Institut and its workforce will remember him always.
