Grants - What's available for your exchange
GAPP receives financial support from the German Federal Government and from the U.S. Department of State.
The actual funds and grants available fluctuate with the
exchange rate.
Teacher grant
Subsidies are restricted to one teacher per school, even if the group consists of twenty or more students. One accompanying teacher receives seventy-five percent (75%) of his/her pre-tax plane fare from GAPP funds. One adult must travel with the group at all times.
Group grant
The group grant depends on the air fare and the number of students traveling ($55-$105/student). Please check our grant application package (forthcoming in December) for more information.
The most economical flight is the basis for teacher and students grants. The American part of the program is financed exclusively by German tax revenue and GAPP is responsible for the equitable distribution of available funds. GAPP reserves the right to scrutinize and compare prices on similar routes and to take action when there are unusually large differences in fares.
