A great opportunity for future teachers! Each year, Pädagogischer Austauschdienst (PAD) offers scholarships for language assistant positions in Germany.
Applications for the school year 2026/27 finilise on 30 April 2026.
Language Assistant Program in Germany
Language assistants are sent to support English teachers in improving the language skills of their pupils. The focus is on:
Conversational skills and pronunciation
Expand knowledge of Australian life, culture, literature and current affairs
Other areas and tasks possible
establishing contact to a school in Germany
1000 € per month and insurance
the possibility of a one-off travel allowance (depending on the approval of funds by the Federal Foreign Office)
Every year, foreign language assistants from Germany travel to Australia to enrich teaching in schools here. The Pedagogical Exchange Service (PAD) organises the programme, and the Goethe-Institut plays an important role in this: it ensures that communication between the PAD and the Australian education ministries runs smoothly.
Important to know: Although the Goethe-Institut is the central interface between the partners, it does not handle applications or provide direct support to foreign language assistants on site.
