 Scholarship Opportunities

The Friends of Goethe Australia are pleased to announce the launch of two scholarships for young Australians who are keen to advance their careers through a work placement in Germany for a period of 4-6 weeks. An amazing opportunity that will enable the selected scholarship recipients to work and conduct research in specific fields within German organisations and companies.

HOW IT WORKS

We offer two four to six-week scholarships to applicants who live in Australia. Scholarship 1 is aimed at an emerging professional working in a curatorial or collections role at an Australian museum or art gallery. Scholarship 2 is suited for an emerging early career architect or landscape architect. The scholarships include assistance with facilitating the temporary work placement and a AUD$10,000 lump sum financial support package. This one-off payment will enable applicants to contribute towards expenses for travel, accommodation and living expenses while overseas. The organisation of the trip, including travel and accommodation arrangements, is the applicants’ responsibility.

CURATORIAL RESIDENCY AT THE HUMBOLDT FORUM

This scholarship provides the opportunity to conduct a research residency at the Humboldt Forum in Berlin. The Humboldt Forum unites four outstanding institutions under one roof. It is situated in the historical heart of Berlin as a unique place of inquiry and encounters. The Friends of Goethe Australia Curatorial Residency at the Humboldt Forum is aimed at early and mid-career professionals working in a curatorial or collections role at an Australian museum or art gallery.

ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

This scholarship is aimed at early and mid-career architects or landscape architects who have a special interest in designing progressive early-learning environments for children under the age of six. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to conduct a work and research placement at a specialised firm in Germany.
