Regarding the European elections in May 2019 the Europanetzwerk Deutsch* from Brussels would like to give pupils the possibility to raise their voice considering their wish for the future of Europe.
Firstly the pupils were animated to think about the significance of Europe for themselves: what connects them as representatives of their countries with the European Union? Which topics should the politicians deal with primarily in the future? What does their future Europe look like? How could the “we-feeling” be enforced in a united Europe?
A jury with one representative of the European Commission, European Parliament and European Council evaluated the postcards and selected eight winners who were invited to Brussels to experience the European capital. The programme included visits to various EU institutions, discussions with representatives of the EU institutions and a guided tour at the House of European History. During workshops the pupils got to know the cultural characteristics of the represented home countries and exchanged ideas about their professional future. An exciting side programme with cultural events and the city rally designed by the Goethe-Institut complemented the programme, which was welcomed by the pupils with great interest and enthusiasm.
A publication of the wishes is planned for the upcoming weeks allowing pupils to represent their thoughts on the European stage.
