The courses offer practice in all language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Language instruction is in German and follows the communicative approach. Participants are offered a placement test and are assigned to the most suitable course.

Participants who want to apply for the grant should follow the application steps.
Only teachers who do not apply for a grant book online.
Tuition fees, course materials, accommodation and half-board on course days are covered. Travel costs are not included.
Eligible are UK teachers who plan to teach for some more years and who have not received a grant from the German Government in the past four years.
Priority is given to:
- Primary and secondary school teachers
- Teachers who intend to introduce German in their schools
- Teachers who already teach German, but intend to teach German at a different level/age group
To avoid disappointment, please apply early, especially for courses taking place in July and August.
Applications must be accompanied by a letter
from either the Head Teacher or the Head of Modern Foreign Languages outlining the state of German at your school and how the school would benefit from your further training.
