ODDKIN

17.10. - 14.11.2025 | Goethe-Gallery and Black Box Studio
Participating artists: Chan Hau Chun | Chui Chi Yin | Lam Wing Sze | Yim Sui Fong

You are cordially invited to join us at the opening of the exhibition ODDKIN on October 17, 2025 (Fri), 6:30 PM, at the Goethe-Gallery, where participating artists Chan Hau Chun, Chui Chi Yin, Lam Wing Sze and Yim Sui Fong will be present to give a guided tour (in English) and an artist sharing (in Cantonese).

ODDKIN borrows Donna Haraway's concept to ask: how might we learn to form alliances in the face of ecological and social crises in turbulent times? How can we practice kinship in conditions that demand co-existence and co-survival? This kinship is not of blood, but of estrangement - an alliance with the unfamiliar and the unruly.

The exhibition begins with observations of urban life and unfolds through reading, discussion, and field encounters, transformed into sound and moving image installations. Emerging from a series of reading groups - on rooftops, Lion Rock, in canteens and airports - the project wove together theory, body, and site. Texts by Donna Haraway, Zanette & Clinchy, Mark Fisher, Mike Davis, and Geoff Waite grounded a shared practice of reflection and critique.

Online panel discussion to respond to the exhibition ODDKIN:
9.11.2025 (Sun) 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Guest Speaker: Dr Zhang Zimu
Participants: Chan Hau Chun, Chui Chi Yin, Lam Wing Sze, Yim Sui Fong
Conducted in Mandarin and Cantonese
