Amman Jazz Festival & Musiqa 3al Daraj
After two years of virtual/hybrid editions, the Amman Jazz Festival and the Musiqa 3al Daraj festival are back, presenting a careful selection of live performances with fresh new sounds by exceptional artists from Jordan and around the world. The week-long program of concerts, workshops, residencies and jam sessions explores the diversity of Jazz, fusing it with different musical genres and presenting it in various locations in Amman and beyond, reaching out to audiences from all walks of life.The main program takes place from Sep 28th until Oct 1st, 2022, at the OES Culture & Sports Building Theatre - The Orthodox Educational Society, in Shmaisani. It invites listeners to a four day musical journey, from Spanish and oriental jazz to quarter tone guitar blues.
The Goethe-Institut contributes to the main program with a collaboration between the German band LBT and Jordanian musician Ahmad Barakat, who will present a set of live acoustic techno fused with Jazz and oriental tunes on Saturday, 1st of October, at 8:45 PM. In addition to the main program, this year's Musiqa 3al Daraj festival takes concerts outside of the capital to the beautiful city Fuheis, on September 27th and October 2nd, 2022. With the goal to open public areas for arts and culture, it transforms urban spaces into a stage, celebrating the wealth of the Jordanian musical scene while building bridges between local and international artists. The festival is co-produced by the Amman Jazz Festival, the Goethe-Institut and OrangeRed.
