Cultural Program Coordinator and Assistant to the Director

The Goethe-Institut Myanmar is looking for a “Cultural Programme Coordinator” (50%) and an “Assistant to Director” (25%) starting on 1 June 2026. The position is particularly suitable for professionals of relevant creative sectors and with a strong interest in cultural project coordination and management / arts administration for an international cultural institution with at least three to five years of professional experience in the field. Experience in working with international organizations, as well as excellent English skills, is required.

Towards Empathy

Recent Happenings from the Towards Empathy Initiative

Twelve focus groups participating in the Towards Empathy program of Goethe-Institut Myanmar have engaged in-depth discussions on themes, perspectives, and case studies related to empathy, approached through a range of methodologies and thematic frameworks. In the forthcoming phase, each group will design and implement projects that build upon and reflect these discussions, with the intention of sharing their outcomes with a wider public. Further information will be communicated through Goethe-Institut Myanmar’s official online platforms.

In March, the German courses at the Goethe-Institut Myanmar will begin for Term 2.

Start learning the German language systematically at the Goethe-Institut Myanmar! Our German language courses are based on the six levels defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Our courses are thereby internationally recognized and comparable. Youth Dialogue Lab

Youth Volunteering for Impact

Based on the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs, the Youth Dialogue Lab will continue to take place at the library in 2026. The dialogue offers young people a space to exchange ideas and perspectives on different topics and themes.

This session will focus on SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth. It will explore how young people can gain important skills by volunteering in community projects. Participants will talk about what volunteerism means, its core values, and the challenges currently faced by volunteers in Myanmar. The discussion will also look at the knowledge and skills that can be gained through volunteering and how these can be used to make future community projects more effective. Young people who are interested in thinking, connecting, and discussing these topics are encouraged to join. A

Paper Mache Activity

Children and Youth Program

Paper Mache Activity

For children who would like to create keepsakes inspired by traditional Myanmar toys, the library’s Children and Youth Program will be hosting a Paper Mache Activity for children aged 8–12 years on 28 February.

In this activity, participants will recreate traditional Myanmar toys such as Pyit Taing Htaung and Phoe Wa dolls by layering and pasting colorful paper with glue. While making these paper figures, children will also learn about traditional Myanmar toys. This fun and hands-on program is sure to provide your child with joy, creativity, and valuable knowledge.

We warmly invite you to give your child the opportunity to create something new and unique inspired by Myanmar’s traditional toys and cultural heritage.

Learn German with “Der Planet Steht Auf Dem Spiel”!

Board Game Day

This February, our beloved library board game day is going green and we’re inviting you to be part of the fun! Our brand-new theme, environmental game called “Der Planet Steht Auf Dem Spiel”, is all about learning how to care for our planet while having a blast with friends.
 
In this game, players will have fun figuring out how to sort different types of waste for proper disposal, how to recycle old items, and what methods and energy sources can be used to reduce carbon emissions, all while navigating a charming little map together.
 
This board game is also designed in an engaging way so that players can happily explore and learn knowledge related to environmental preservation. It is especially suitable for students at German language A2 level and above. Therefore, if you want to learn new German vocabulary related to environmental conservation, sign up now!
