Christian Kracht
(born 29.12.1966 in Saanen), writer, journalist.
Christian Kracht grew up in the USA, Canada and France. He worked as a journalist for Tempo magazine, Der Spiegel and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, among others.His highly acclaimed debut novel Faserland was published in 1993. The work is considered a pioneer of German pop literature, which experienced a renaissance in the mid-1990s. His novel Imperium, published in 2012, sparked a controversy in the German feuilleton about Kracht's political views; at the same time, he received the Wilhelm Raabe Literature Prize for it and was longlisted for the International Dublin Literary Award. The novel Die Toten from 2016 was awarded the Swiss Book Prize. Christian Kracht lives in Los Angeles.
