Nino Haratischwili

In her youth, Nino Haratischvili founded a theatre group for which she wrote bilingual plays and brought them to the stage in Georgia and Germany. She studied film and theatre in Tbilisi and then theatre directing at the Theatre Academy in Hamburg. In addition to her theatre work, she wrote her debut novel Juja, which appeared in 2010 and made the longlist of the German Book Prize as well as the shortlist of the aspekte literature prize. Her novel Die Katze und der General was shortlisted for the German Book Prize in 2018. Nino Haratischvili was awarded the Bertolt Brecht Literature Prize and the Schiller Memorial Prize. She lives in Hamburg.
