Michael Kumpfmüller

(born 21.07.1961 in Munich), writer, journalist.

Michael Kumpfmüller studied history and German literature in Tübingen, Vienna and Berlin. He worked as a journalist and received various journalism awards. His short story Die Mitwisserin, published in 1993, also won an award. In 2000, he presented his debut novel Hampels Fluchten. His novel Die Erziehung des Mannes was longlisted for the German Book Prize in 2016. His most internationally successful book is the novel Die Herrlichkeit des Lebens about Franz Kafka, published in 2011. Michael Kumpfmüller lives in Berlin.
