Norbert Scheuer

After training as an electrician, Norbert Scheuer studied Physical Engineering in Iserlohn and Philosophy in Düsseldorf. He worked as a system programmer before becoming a freelance writer. In 1994 he made his debut with Der Hahnenkönig, a volume of short stories. Two volumes of poetry followed before his first novel Der Steinesammler appeared in 1991. Norbert Scheuer has received numerous prizes, including the 3sat Prize, part of the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition, and the Wilhelm Raabe Literature Prize. His novels Überm Rauschen (2009) and Winterbienen (2019) were both on the shortlist for the German Book Prize. Norbert Scheuer lives in the Eifel.
