Timetable

March 2023:
Call for applications for coders and developers from the Global North and the Global South in cooperation with local coding initiatives. Applications from philosophers, artists, sociologists, lawyers and civil society actors were also welcome.

May and June 2023:
Two-month online Fellowship Programme, consisting of seminars, networking events and workshops. The focus was on the exchange between the participants and the sensitization for questions of ethics and inclusion through the invitation of international speakers who illuminated the topic of artificial intelligence from different perspectives. The participants should inform each other about local needs and identify a relevant topic in their project location.
The materials from the fellowship will be available as OER. 

July 2023:
From July 8th to July 16th the participants worked in a hackathon in which ideas for AI applications were developed in diverse teams. A jury selected six teams after a pitching session that received a first funding.

August to November 2023:
Development phase to expand the ideas of the six teams, supported by online coachings.

September 2023:
Invitation of the six teams to a physical meeting in connection with an AI conference in the Global South - the Fakugesi festival in South Africa - to network with each other, sharpen the product idea, deal with the local conditions and participate in the conference. November 2023:
Pitching of the product ideas at the end of the development phase and selection of two proposals for further funding by a jury. 

February 2024
Presentation of the two winning projects during a networking week in Munich. Find out more about the programme in collaboration with Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship in the Bavarian regional capital.
