Fictional Subjects–Surveilled Selves: Participative Workshop, Collective Reading & Book Presentation with Olga Goriunova, Mark Cinkevich & Aron Lodi
The workshop, led by Mark Cinkevich, introduces participants to open-source tools for investigating digital infrastructures. Through a combination of theoretical insight and hands-on exercises, attendees will learn to trace how their personal data moves through networks - from points of capture to sites of storage and processing. By mapping these pathways, the session reveals the often-hidden mechanisms through which everyday data circulation sustains broader systems of surveillance and control.
Following the workshop, Aron Lodi will present his current research and artistic practice, leading into a collective reading of selected fiction and non-fiction texts. This session will open up discussion around key themes such as data sovereignty, surveillance, digital imperialism, and the politics of the body and data.
The programme concludes with a presentation by cultural theorist Olga Goriunova, who will introduce her forthcoming book, Ideal Subjects: The Abstract People of AI. The book explores how AI systems fabricate abstract representations of human identity - fictional yet influential figures that shape everything from algorithmic governance to digital labor and online behavior.
The event is fully booked, and registration is now closed.
