KINO! Film Salon is a monthly online film club to discuss German film.
How it works: Each month we choose a German film or series currently available to stream on U.S. platforms, watch it independently, and come together for a hosted conversation with other fans of German film.
Our May session will be a special Cannes edition with a surprise guest and we’ll talk about Fatih Akin’s award-winning In the Fade, which premiered at the festival in 2017 and took home the Best Actress award for Diane Kruger. U.S. participants can stream the film on Prime Video, Youtube, Google Play, Apple TV, and many others.

After the death of her family in a terrorist attack, Katja’s life falls apart. She manages to make it through the funeral but the mind-numbing search for the perpetrators and their motive for the senseless killing complicate her painful mourning. Katja struggles as she endures the trial against the two suspects: a young couple from the neo-Nazi scene. The trial pushes her to the edge and there’s simply no alternative: Katja wants justice.

Hosted by Sydney Levine
